Don't punish yourself! If you accidentally put a bon bon in your mouth without thinking about it.... oh well... life goes on.... try harder next time! You wouldn't punish a child for falling down when trying to learn to walk. Why should we punish ourselves if we fall down?![]() |
Cravings! Cravings are the body's way of letting you know what you need. It is your job to decipher what your body is trying to say. Even bad food contains nutrients that our body needs, so if your craving something try to eat something healthy first. If the craving is still there after ten minutes or so... then let yourself eat a small amount of what you want. |
Make eating special!Set aside a special place to eat. A place that is the only place you should go to eat at, a place for work, home, and/or anywhere you are frequently. There is a rule to this. Avoid being around the TV and/or the computer. A preferred setting would be at the table. Next make it fancy. Use a table cloth, fancy dinner plates, nice glass, use candles and/or flowers. Even if you have kids. (though don't light the candle if your kids might knock it over!) |
Set realistic goals! This sounds easier than it really is. But most people (including me) tend to say; "I have to lose 50, 75, or 100 plus pounds, now let's get to it!" Yah Right! If we have that much to lose we are going to fall on our face. It would be like trying to eat an elephant all in one sitting. You know yourself better than anyone... try setting very small simple goals even if they sound too easy. Every goal that you accomplish gets you that much closer to that maximum goal. Try these below as some examples, Notice that they are easy to finish within a day's time and you wouldn't die if you did them.

Visualize!24 hours a day seven days a week 265 days a year we look at ourselves and see fat. We tend to lose focus on what we really should look like. Take some time to visualize yourself thin. When going through basketball they told of a story of a basketball player who was severely injured and could not practice at the gym for months. When he returned back he was doing better than ever. When he was asked how he kept his game up he said; "Every day I would spend hours in my mind practicing over and over shooting hoops. I would mentally feel where my feet should be, how my arms should fall, the feel and smell of the ball, the exact moment of release, and the sound that was made each time the ball went into the basket." Just as this basketball player we need to visualize just as hard. If you are not one to get a good mental picture, that is ok there are sites to help you!Click here |
Pay Attention! We tell our kids to do this all the time. But how many times do we sit in front of something and like mindless zombies automaticly put piece after piece of something in our mouth and suddenly realize that our bag is empty or accuse our kids of eating our snack. Most major weight loss programs require you to keep a journal just for this cause. It gets us aware of what we put into our mouth. But we also need to be aware of why we are eating, what we are eating, and most of all how much. |
Prepare ahead! Scouts do it! Military does it! Teachers do it! Why shouldn't we! There are several ways and reasons we could and should prepare ahead.
